Aims and Brief Introduction of the Department

The Department of Educational Administration strives to offer postgraduate programs that aim to help educators gain the equipment that will enable them to take part in every level of the education system. It aims to provide candidate administrators with the leadership knowledge, skills and practical experience required by the age to effectively lead their schools and institutions, thus contributing to their practices and contributing to effective and positive solutions to the main problems affecting education. Graduates are trained to lead as educators, to prepare them to facilitate innovation and change in education and to help them effectively carry out their role in bringing about change and transformation in schools. Educators are expected to provide leadership in managing educational programs, leading to quality education and quality learning, with an emphasis on strengthening the professional role of the school administrator by raising standards of student achievement.

While developing educators' knowledge in educational administration, the Department aims to support continuous professional development between theory and practice, to enable them to think about issues related to educational policy, to give them the opportunity to contribute to improving the educational system for quality teaching and learning and to support critical and original thinking.

History and Establishment of the Department

M.U. Atatürk Faculty of Education, Department of Educational Sciences was established on July 20, 1982, to provide pedagogical formation courses to the departments that provide 4-year undergraduate education in various fields in M.U. Atatürk Faculty of Education and to carry out an undergraduate program in the field of Guidance and Psychological Counseling. In the 1997-1998 academic year, "Educational Administration and Supervision Master's Program" was opened in the Department of Educational Administration and Supervision within the Department of Educational Sciences. In the 1999-2000 academic year, the Department of Educational Administration and Supervision under the Department of Educational Sciences was closed and the faculty members and the graduate program were transferred to the Department of Guidance and Psychological Counseling. In the 2005-2006 academic year, the Department of Educational Administration and Supervision was re-established. The Department of Educational Administration and Supervision has been teaching at the master's level since 1997-1998 and at the doctoral level since 1999-2000.

Graduate Education Opportunities

The department has three graduate programs: Master's Degree with Thesis, Master's Degree without Thesis and Doctorate. The Graduate School of Educational Sciences accepts applications for EYTPE Master's and Doctorate programs in June every year.
